THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 10 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

An additional R&D Officer post (Health Services Researcher) has been created at the Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory (SMTL), in the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.

The successful candidate will be a graduate with an interest in medical devices and in health technology assessment, to undertake research and development activity within the laboratory, particularly literature reviews,critical appraisal and evaluating of meta analyses and systematic reviews.

Candidates for this post should possess, as a minimum, an honours degree and a post-graduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, and have previously worked in a research environment.

The person appointed must be capable of undertaking literature reviews and assessments and writing technical reports to a high standard.

The postholder will be expected to participate in a range of activities, including literature review, project and study planning, method development, knowledge synthesis, and data analyses. In particular, the postholder is expected to provide a range of outputs to support evidence-based medical device procurement in the Welsh NHS and will be expected to engage with Welsh NHS clinicians.

SMTL provides various medical device related services including a UKAS accredited testing service and research and development services for the Welsh NHS and for commercial customers.
