False "Air in line" alarms with Baxter Flo-Gard IV administration
sets.
In July 1997, Baxter sent out a product information notice affecting

the following codes:

-
FMC9614
-
FMC9603
-
FMC9604
-
FMC9605
-
FMC9608
-

A change of supplier of the PVC resin has lead to a small change in
surface finish and stiffness of the tube on some sets.
Corrective action has been taken by Baxter to eliminate this problem,
and new batches will be available at the end of July.
In the meantime, Baxter have made available a procedure to allow the
current administration sets to be used.
The procedure is available from Baxter.
In the UK,
contact
Myles Darbyshire, Tel: 01635-206411.
The Medical Devices Agency is aware of these reports and the action
Baxter have taken.
